I Heart Faces - A Slice of Life

For those who have already seen this picture, forgive me. I decided to join the I Heart Faces challenge this week, which is A Slice of Life.

A Slice of Life, at this point in time involves baseball. This is the first year my middle son has played and he is enjoying it very much. I feel this is the epitome of springtime for a boy of his age and clearly represents our Slice of Life.

Head on over to I Heart Faces and see the other Slice of Life photo's.

Spring is in the Air

See these? Can you guess what they are? Well, I'll give you a hint....they are best home grown.

See her? That is Vapor, she adopted me about a year and a half ago. She is the sweetest kitty ever. She likes to supervise whatever I do when I am outside. So she supervised while I did the bulk of the planting.

Yep, here they are, all planted. There are about 96 of them. I even planted some Anaheim Peppers to make Chile Rellenos. Mmmm, mmmmm, good.

Trevor decided to help me at about the time I was finishing up. That's okay I don't mind a little help. Maybe my green thumb will rub off on him. Maybe he will be the next gardener and food preserver in the family.

My makeshift green house. Do you like it? Yes, a bit primitive, but it gets the job done. Maybe someday I will have my own real green house. A girl can hope right?

Sooooo excited. This is just one of the many that have broken through the soil.

Many more have sprouted and I can't wait to get them in the ground. I just hope I am more successful this year in the transplants. Last year I killed off quite a few during the transplant. Have you figured out what they are? (No telling Julia!)

Spring is in the air.

For many, myself included, flowers are indicative of Spring and the warm Summer months to follow.

This is the first rose of the season, it is called Cabana.

These are some pretty flowers I captured on a walk in the hills across the road from my house.

However, for me there is something more that really means Spring is here. When Spring truly makes it's appearance it means that I can hang my laundry to let the sun do what my dryer does in the Winter months.

There is just something so primitive and natural to see the sun and wind dry all that we wear and use on a daily basis. I love the feel and the smell of our clothes, towels, bed linens after they have been whipped around and dried by the elements.

This is by far the biggest indicator to me that Spring has sprung. Can you tell what it is? Not sure? Well here is their sign down below.

My family and I live for these tasty red fruits. They are the best. My oldest is a berry pirate, doesn't matter what kind of berry, but when these are in season we know that school is almost over, the weather is getting warmer, and the best fruits of the year are to follow.

I have a tendency to buy this many strawberries a week. This is a flat of them, there are 12 baskets of sweetness in this flat. I guarantee that with in 2 days these red jewels are gone. My kids, myself included, eat these like candy. They are that good! Imagine, fresh picked from the field, you couldn't get them any fresher.

Well I'm off to enjoy my snack! Have a great day everyone!
